It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a dear sister, wife, mother, grandmother,great grandmother, aunt, and friend, on Saturday, January 30th ,2010 at the Glace Bay Healthcare Complex.

Born in Glace Bay Laura was the daughter of the late Malcolm and Ruby (Clark) MacMillan. Laura was a member of St. John’s Church New Aberdeen where she enjoyed many an afternoon lending a hand, and became known as the “Sandwich Lady”.

Laura’s friendship and heartfelt kindness extended to everyone she knew. Some of Laura’s favorite hobbies over the years included bowling, and going to yard sales.

She traveled the world many times through the books she so loved to read.

Laura will be deeply missed by her loving husband Billie Madore, her adoring children Cheryl (Art) Hay of Ottawa; Bill (Mary) Madore of Ottawa; Malcolm (Andrea) Madore of Glace Bay; her cherished grandchildren Laura Hay, Darryl (Jennifer), Alica, and David Gouthro, Nicole and Holly Madore, Beth and Sandra Madore, great grandchildren Emma and Katie Gouthro, her devoted sisters and brother Jean Comeau, Glace Bay; Kay (Earl) Wilson, Glace Bay; Donna (Sheldon) Mullins, Reserve Mines; Roy (Gezil) MacMillan, Halifax; and also by many nieces, nephews, in laws, and friends, her extended family who meant so much to her.

Besides her parents, Laura was predeceased by a precious daughter Sandra, and a darling sister, Paulette, who died in infancy.

In honoring Laura’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 02, 2010 at St. John’s Church, New Aberdeen with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Interment will follow in Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Laura’s memory may be made to the Palliative Care Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
