It is with broken hearts the family of Frank George Green 77; announce his peaceful passing at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex on Friday, August 20th, 2010 surrounded by love.

Born in Chatham, New Brunswick Frank was the son of the late George and Julia (Doyle) Green. Frank was a faithful member of St. Anthony’s Parish, Glace Bay.

Frank had an extensive career in construction and maintenance which took him all across Canada and the US. He worked for many companies throughout his 50 plus year career to name a few: Glace Bay Heavy Water, Stora (Port Hawkesbury), Nova Scotia Power and MacPherson Mechanics. Frank also spent many years in the fishing industry in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. He passed on his love of fishing to his sons.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Helen Ann (Bransfield). He is also survived by two sons, Steven and Robert and was predeceased by son, Gordie. He is also survived by three daughters, Margaret (Burke), Barb (Hynes), Carroll Ann and was predeceased by infant daughter, Janet.

Frank is also survived by Margaret Ann, Tracey, Wanda (Adrian), John, Grant, and Kevin who when chosen as partners of his children became family of his own.

Grampy was very proud and enjoyed sharing his unique sense of humour with his thirteen grand children; Julia, Janet (Andrew), Jenna Lee, Spencer, Curtis, Caitlin, Courtney, Benjamin, Ryan, Jessica, Adam, Parker and Stephanie. Grampy shared his love of gardening and growing anything green with his great-grand children, Emma, Peyton and Caleb. Frank will be sadly missed by his loyal companions, Barney and Mike.

Frank is also survived by his sister, Mamie and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Gordon and his sister, Joan.

Visitation will be held on Monday August 23rd, at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street Glace Bay from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 am on Tuesday, August 24th at St. Anthony’s Parish, Glace Bay with Rev. Norman MacPhee officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Online condolences to the Green family are available through www.vjmcgillivray.ca

Every man’s work, whether it be fishing, construction or raising his children or anything else is always a portrait of himself.

So sorry for your loss. Frank was my first fitter when I joined the pipefitters union in 1989. He was extremely knowledegable of the trade and was an excellent worker. Always in a good mood and easy to get along with, which is not always the norm in this occupation. Best wishes; David
